Carlos Barrios, Musician and Poet
|
If you had seen him ambling down the sidewalk in Wranglers and
cowboy boots with a guitar slung across his back, you would have
known right away Carlos wasn't your average young teen. Born into
a musical family, he most enjoyed performing old-time and cowboy
songs, influenced by the music of Jimmie Rodgers and The Skillet
Lickers as well as by the traditional sounds of cowboy, old-time,
and Gospel music. By the time he moved to Wyoming at eighteen, not
only had he been featured on several television programs, he had
already toured the western United States and Canada entertaining
with his own style of music. A little yodeling, a little cowboy,
a little old-time, and a lot of heart go into Carlos' renditions.
You can feel his love for the western prairies and mountains. A
published poet and songwriter, he has entertained hundreds of guests
over the last five years at Wyoming's prestigious High Island Ranch,
as well as performed around the state of Wyoming in various shows
and for conventions and community gatherings. Carlos is a full-time student at the University of Wyoming
