John Ingram
|
John Ingram was born in Mineola, Texas. He didn't enter into the entertainment arena until he married Janet McBride in 1976. At that time, John was a sergeant with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.
By 1981, John and Janet were owners of their own theatre and producing a Saturday Night country music show known as The Mesquite Opry. They continued their "day jobs" and ran the weekly show for nearly 15 years.
Sometime during the 1990s, John began to help out in the comedy department where he played several characters and started singing a song or two with Janet. He retired from Dallas Country in 1991.
Janet and John started travelling and singing at many western music festivals around the country. John got tired of just hanging around while Janet did all the singing so bought himself a "stand up bass" and began trying to play it. His great bass voice and wonderful ability to speak brought him to the microphone at many festivals where he was asked to handle the emcee chores.
