Praire Rose and the Sidekicks, Cowboy Musicians

Little Voices, Big Harmony, and a whole lot of instruments as well That's Prairie Rose and the Sidekicks They reign from Central North Dakota, and they are sure to place their brand upon your heart.

Cathy Unterseher, alias, "Prairie Rose" is the mother of a musical family. As a solo act, she has shared the stages with Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Baxter Black, and many more- She has won numerous awards with her songwriting abilities, and bas sang at Cowboy Poetry Gatherings throughout the country. She shared the cover of intl magazine, Country Woman, with her oldest Sidekick, Slade, when he was 2 years old. Since those days, she is still sharing stages, but now with her own harmony group; her children.

Slade, the oldest Sidekicks, has been given a fiddle, mandolin, and a banjo, by fans; the Banjo, being his favorite. Within a year, he had folks young and old toe tapping to his music.

Cheyenne, has been featured in magazines as well, including Country Magazine. She was asked to sing the National Anthem at a sports event at 8 years old, and helped open up the National Anthem at the Fargo/Moorehead stadium summer of 2003, at a Redhawks Baseball game.

Cassidy, plays a rhythm instrument on stage and charms people with her smile. She has people in awe as she opens up with solos, such as in “Home on the Range.” Like the other Sidekicks; she’s been featured in magazines, and she was given a guitar at a performance.

They've been singing since they were 3 and 5 years old, and the harmony just "happened" when very young! (Mom first scolded Slade when he started singing harmony in Cheyenne's solo song, while practicing. It took a few minutes before she realized what he had done, She stopped singing and told Slade, to do that again. From that moment on.... it's become a game When one kid starts a harmony line in a song, the next one has to outdo that sibling, and since then., they have grown to become very talented entertainers with a strong, rich blend).

Sharon Bothwell of Cody Stampede Parade Committee has been quoted as stating, "The vocal harmonies of the three children are impressive and can match any adult group with their sound.

They know they've been blessed, and not just vocally„ but with the many instruments they can just pick up and play., most of these instruments have been gifts donated to them by devout fans. (Sometimes they share these stories, which are so close to their hearts.)

They received the honor of having won the 1st Annual Home Grown Talent Contest through KFYR Radio, in 1999. They have been featured at the Cody Stampede, Medora Cowboy Poetry Gathering, Lewistown Cowboy Poetry Gathering, and have played at Cowboy Church in Nashville, Tn. They have opened the North Dakota Redhawks Baseball Game with their rendition of the National Anthem, and they've been on tours in the South and Midwest playing at many venues, and churches, throughout the country. The event that is still fresh in their minds was when they opened for Ian Tyson the fall of 2003. Slade also auditioned for 3 honor choirs in North Dakota, the school year of 2002-2003. He was chosen for all three, and one was for a group in Sioux Falls, SD, where he was chosen as a candidate selected out of 6 states.
