Otto Rosfeld, Poet - Singer - Historian
|
Otto is a native of the panhandle and sandhills of Nebraska.
He was born in Nebraska to a farmer/rancher/auctioneer and his wife
who raised seven children on the ranch. Otto continues to do ranch
work when seasonal help is needed on the intensive aspects of his
brother-in-laws ranch operations. An independent scholar for the Nebraska
Humanities Council, he performed "Sandhill Song" all over
Nebraska plus many other states. He taught music in public schools
for 32 years, incorporating songs, stories, poems, and chants. Since
1975 he has been performing his original poetry which incorporate
the strong theme of rural life in more simple times. Otto has in his
performance style no hints of media influences. His sounds are acoustic
like the entertainers of the early days before recordings were commonplace.
He makes certain that the lifestyle of his parents and their peers
will not be forgotten.
