Bill Stearns, Cowboy Humorist - Speaker - Cowboy
|
Bill Stearns is a third-generation Wyoming cowboy and horseman who started
riding broncs in competition when he was 14 years old, and much
younger on the family ranch. He has spent better than half a century
working with horses and cattle, and is still doing ranch day work.
In 1958 he was saddle bronc, bulldogging and All Around champion
at the South Dakota High School Rodeo Finals. He was Kansas State
Rodeo Association Finals bronc riding champion in 1983 and competed
in the North American Rodeo Commission (NARC) Finals in El Paso
in 1985.
He won the World Championship, 1995 (at age 55) and Reserve World
Championship, 1996, in Saddle Bronc Riding for the 50+ age group
in National Senior Pro Rodeo Association (NSPRA), and won their
saddle bronc Finals average in both 1985 and 1994. He was also Canadian
Pro 50+ Bronc Riding Champion for 1995 & 1996.
He is primarily a storyteller, relating true history of family
and friends and humorous stories he writes. He also recites classic
cowboy poems especially those of Badger Clark, and some great contemporary
cowboy, poetry written by friends who are true cowboys, as he is.
