Wyoming Red, Cowboy Singers - Composers
|
A sister duo known as Wyoming Red, Rusty and Susan were
born in Afton five years apart. Their grandfather was a rancher who
had a homestead in Swan Valley. Idaho. Later he bought land in Alpine
Wyoming and ranched there. Music was always a big part of their lives;
their Wher played piano and fostered a love of music in the girls.
Traditional cowboy music was the music of choice. Susan and Rusty
started playing guitar as teenagers. Susan still plays guitar and
Rusty plays bass. They began taking their music more seriously about
ten years ago and have performed in Canada, Montana, Arizona, Idaho,
and Wyoming. In September 1997, they were awarded the Golden Note
Award by the Cowboy Poets of Idaho. Rusty has lived and worked on
three ranches in Sublette County. She currently lives on the Little
Jemy Ranch in Bondurant where her husband is foreman. Rusty and Susan
are members of the Cowboy Poets of Idaho, Alberta Cowboy Poets, Western
Music Association, and the Charley Russell Western Hertiage Association.
