A Bronc Riders Story By Heath Childers
Well Sir, I remember a rodeo I made back in May
I was lookin at my dray, a pritty lil‘bay
so I asked around and tried to find out about‘er
the only answer I got was there ain‘t nothin stouter

well, I grabed my saddle outta tha back of the truck
then I heard from some folks, they wished me good luck
with my gear in hand, I was making my way
and thought to myself “gotta get paid today”

well, I straped up my leggins and the spurs on my boots
and prepared to find my seat on that bronc in tha chutes
as I eased in tha saddle, folks yelled & they staired
that mare fussed and she jumped, but I was‘nt scared

well, I had a fist full of rains as I nodded my ol‘head
“turn`er loose boys!” were the words that I said
I had my legs out strait tryin to make my mark
tha first rattle outta tha box was no walk in tha park

well, she pined her ol‘ears back & bucked & she hallered
I kept a liftin on tha rains, as bucked I fallered
she bucked even harder & yanked tha rains from my hand
and ended that lil‘ride, for this bronc ridin man

well, she planted me in that arena, like a tree in tha yard
and way deep down inside, my pride had been scared
with a mouth full of dirt, is as much as I remember
they streachered me outta there with a dent in my fender

well, there in tha local hospital, I woke up with tha fools
and thought that with this pain I feel, I might as well ride bulls
so hear I stand befor ya, a Cowboy, never been a phony
what I‘m tryin to say is, you got tha price of tha entry to loan me?
