Glen Enloe -- No More I'll Ride This Windy Plain

No more I'll ride this windy plain
Or herd lost cattle in silent rain.
A cowboy's got fifty years at best
Before his bones they'll put to rest.

I've rode fer miles and run my strings,
It's time now to see what this life brings.
Us of cowboys get set in our ways,
Dwellin' too much on the good of days.

When young you want yer hoss to buck,
When old you're more worried `bout the chuck.
No more I'll ride this here windy plain,
My heart's willin' but my bones complain.

I'll tie my hoss to that of hitchin' post
And jest quit doin' what I love the most
But when I do ya better bury me quick,
Cause I'll already be dead and not jest sick.
