Cowgirl Soccer Loses Second Straight Match to UC Riverside 2-0
Laramie, Wyo. (September 28, 2007) -- The Cowgirl soccer team lost yet another tough match as they fell to the UC Riverside Highlanders Friday night 2-0 at UCR Soccer Stadium. Wyoming falls to 4-5-0 while the Highlanders improve to 6-3-0.

“This is a frustrating loss, we did a great job of possessing the ball and controlling the game but a couple of key mistakes cost us,” said UW head coach Anne Moore.

“They were able to score at the end of the first half on a miss communication between Wyoming’s defense and our goalie.”

UC Riverside got on the scoreboard first when freshman Natal Ducatenzeiler executed a pass from freshman Kristina Kelly and scored from 15-yards out at the 33:22 mark. Ducatenzeiler beat UW keeper Ashley Sheppard, who was charging on the play, with a finesse shot for the goal.

The Highlanders added an insurance goal late in the second half when junior Tessa Lennala scored on an assist from Ducatenzeiler at the 80:22 mark.

“We have to try to find the positives out of tonight’s game, move on, and get ready for our match against Long Beach State on Sunday.”

The Cowgirls will continue their California road trip on Sunday when they travel to take on Long Beach State who lost to the #14 ranked USC Trojans Friday night. LBS extends their losing streak to four matches. The match is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. (MTN)
